月饼、赏月、团圆，用英语怎么聊中秋？

小凉风一吹，中秋就来咯！作为我国传统佳节，中秋节和许多节日一样，讲究的是团圆，那么在这个团聚的日子，即使不能回家，也要和好朋友们抱团过节才行。中秋节传统大家都很熟悉，但是随着中国节日越来越国际化，你能够用英语介绍中秋习俗吗？

1.Enjoy the sweet moon cakes － 月饼小口吃

For a long whilein my childhood, moon cake is another name for the Mid-Autumn Festival. These sweet little things sweep the countrywhen the day comes, it’s probably the biggest kindin Chinese pastry. You have your Beijing-style moon cake, your Cantonese-style, your Ninbo-style, and when it comes to fillings, there are lotus seed paste, sweet bean paste, and salted yolk or whatever. Now they even have western things in the moon cakes, like coffee and chocolate. All together in a small cake, just one bite and it’s like heaven. Anyway, one thing I love about our traditions is that we always relate our special days with food, that’s the spirit.

在童年的相当一段时间里，我一直把月饼跟中秋节划等号。每到中秋，这些小甜食就横扫全国。月饼可能是种类最多的中国糕点了，我们有北京系的月饼，广东系的还有宁波系的等等，从馅料来看又有莲蓉的，红豆的，蛋黄啊什么的，现在甚至还有咖啡馅和巧克力馅这些“洋口味”，所有的精华都揉在一个小小的饼里，咬一口下去就好吃的飞起了。总之，我很欣赏我国传统节日总是与食物相联系，这才是过节的精神嘛。

Tips：

1）a long while就相当于a long time，泛指很长一段时间

2）sweep the country是横扫全国，火爆全国的意思，sweep在这里可以理解成很流行。相当于all over

3）pastry是指糕点，并且一般是指油皮和酥皮的糕点，并不能泛指我们中文里常说的点心，甜点这些。烘焙在西方饮食文化里非常巨大的一块，所以与烘焙有关的词汇也是很多很细致的。

4）我们通常说a kind就是一种，而a big kind就是指很大一类，包含很多样式的一个种类。

5）口语中常说的it’s heaven或it’s like heaven，可以理解成流行语里常说的，上天了，飞起了，也就是形容感觉非常棒。例如：

We kissed for the first time and, God it’s heaven.

我们第一次亲亲的时候，感觉简直妙极了。

2.Enjoy the full moon watching － 赏月正当时

When was the last time you actually admiredthe moon? As for me, I can hardly recall. But in the old timespeople watch the moon all the time, it’s a shamethat we don’t appreciate nature these days. But not in the Mid-Autumn day, only once in a year we get tosee this shining full moon so please grab the chanceto take a walk with the ones you love in the moonlight. That way, we are not entirely losing who we are.

你上一次凝望月亮是什么时候？对我来说，真的已经记不清了。旧时候人们非常热爱赏月，而现在我们慢慢不再那样对自然景观充满热情了，这说起来也是很遗憾的。不过在中秋这一天可以是个例外，每年也就这么一天，我们可以看到散落着光芒的满月，所以请一定珍惜这个机会，跟你爱的人一起在月光下踱步，留下这段时光。这样欣赏自然的天赐，我们才算留住了一些本真呀。

Tips:

1）admire，watch还有gaze都可以来表示赏月，毕竟汉语博大精深，一个赏字就此处无声胜有声了，但是英语里表示“赏”这个意味的词却有很多呢，可以根据语境来选择。通常在不太正式的语境里，用watch the moon就可以表达到赏月的意思了，而满月一词可以说full moon。

2）recall这个词我们平时可能接触的不多，或者说许多时候把它跟remember搞混了。一般表示想起，记起的意思都可以用recall，但remember更多表达的是记忆，记住。

3）the old times就是过去的意思，一般指年代稍久远一些的过去。

4）口语中常说的what a shame我们都知道是遗憾的意思，这里shame就有遗憾的义项

5）these days是最近，近些时候的意思，一般是指时下，当下，可以是几天到几年之内的时间范围。

6）get to do是可以做某事，能够做某事。

7）grab the chance其实就是take the chance，grab在这里就可以理解为抓住，跟我们常说的抓住机会是一样的。

3.Enjoy the get-together － 团圆不能忘

It’s not a piece of caketo get everyone home in the holidays any more. Most of us are now living a busy life, it’s hard to make timecoming home to our familyeven in this special day. But let’s at least keep the spirit, those who can’t get back home don’t have to be alone, a little get-togetherwith friends could be nice, also give the festival a little more meaning. It’s really about being together.

让家人能在假期团聚已经不是小菜一碟的事了，大部分人都过上了忙碌的生活，即使在中秋这个日子能回家团圆很难了。不过我们至少应该留住节日的精神，那些不能回家的人也不必非得孤单的自己过节啊，能跟朋友们小聚一下也是不错的。这样也让中秋有了更深的一层含义，也让团圆更具深意。

Tips：

1）a piece of cake可以理解成我们常说的小菜一碟，就是非常容易做到的事。

2）live a busy life是过忙碌的生活，相应的把busy换成其他的形容词也是可以的。

3）make time就是挤时间，抽出时间来做某事。

4）come home to somebody不一定是特指回到谁家，而是指回到某人身边。

5）get-together相比起我们常常听到歪果仁说的party可能更陌生一些，跟party相比get-together规模更小，可以理解成小聚（沪江英语）
