▌accident：突发性的，一般为不幸事件，即“事故”。

▌incident：小的变数、插曲，小事件，没accident那么严重。

▌continuous：持续不断的，且可以做表语和定语

▌considerate：体贴的，考虑周到的

▌electric：电的，用电的，带电的，指任何电动的或发电的装置，被修饰的物体本身可带电。

▌electrical：电的，与电有关的，电气科学的，指与电有关的事物，被修饰的词本身并不能带电。

▌表示“保证”的意思，两者通用，英国人爱用ensure，美国人爱用insure。

▌historic：历史上著名的，具有历史意义的。强调的是事件本身具有的重大意义。

▌historical：历史上的，有关历史的。强调某个事件曾经的的确确发生过。

▌lie：说谎；躺，位于。

➤作“说谎”的意思

过去式，过去分词，现在分词分别是：lied, lied, lying

➤作“躺，位于”的意思

过去式，过去分词，现在分词分别是：lay, lain, lying

He lay under a tree to sleep.

他躺在树下休息。

▌lay：放，搁；下蛋。过去式，过去分词，现在分词分别是：laid, laid, laying

The dog laid its ears back.

小狗把耳朵耷拉下来。

★ 比较容易混的地方在于lay本身是一个词，又能做lie（躺，位于）的过去式。下面这句话你分清了吗？

If you like, you can lie（躺） down on your bed, laying（放） yourself in a comfortable position, and lie（说谎） to yourself that you don't like lying（躺） there, or you can imagine where you would like to lay（放） the eggs after the hens lay（下蛋） eggs.

『四种不同关系』

▌relation有以下几个意思

➤指最宽泛意义上的“关系”时，relation和relationship同义。

the relation/relationship between smoking and heart disease

吸烟和心脏病之间的关系

➤亲戚。同义词：relative。

She was a distant relation of my wife.

她是我老婆的远房亲戚。

➤复数relations一般用于国与国之间，或很大的群体之间，较为正式（用于人之间特指性关系）。同义词：communication。

（在不太正式的情况也可以写作the relation/relationship between Iraq and the U.S.）

relations between blacks and whites 黑人和白人的关系

▌relationship除了普通“关系”，还可以指“亲密关系”，如不特别说明，一般指爱人关系。

▌object：(n.)目标，物体，客体，宾语；（某情感或反应的）对象；(v.)反对。它的形容词形式为objective，意为“客观的，目标的”。objective还可以作名词，意为“目标，目的”。

▌subject：(n.)主体，科目，主语；（批评、研究或调查的）对象(v.)使……隶属；使屈从于，通常与to连用。它的形容词形式为subjective，意为“主观的，个人的”。
