　　Most couples pray it doesn't rain on their wedding day, but these newlyweds were thrilled when a freak blizzard brought a bucket of snow with it on their special day.

　　Carly and Chris Atwill's wish for snow came true and their wedding venue was turned into a winter wonderland, with eight inches of the white stuff falling on Saturday, December 12.

　　'We were absolutely thrilled when we saw the snow, it felt so magical,' said Carly, 30, from nearby Staindrop, who works in the family business making and selling Land Rover parts.

　　The couple bravely posed outside for some pictures taken by Paul, 36, who has been photographing weddings for three years but had never done a snowy wedding before.

　　He said: 'By the time we came out of the ceremony it was a blizzard and the grounds looked beautiful.

　　'The snow was coming down thick and fast, so we couldn't spend much time out there, but I was really pleased with the results.'

　　Groom Chris, 31, an A&E doctor, said: 'It all feels like a bit of a dream now .

　　'We had really hoped it would snow but we knew the chances were very slim as there hadn't been snow like this for five years.
