Hello my friends,
I hope you have been enjoying your summer. I know I have. People ask me what NBA players do in the summer. I always tell them, "Relax!" The NBA season is so long and your body takes such a brutal pounding that you need a few weeks after the season to unwind and mend all of the aches that add up during the season. Personally, I take a month off to relax. The only physical activity that I will do is golfing. (My golf game is not very good right now, but I am getting better!)

Just two weeks ago I started to workout and lift weights as I get ready for the upcoming season. It is very important that I spend time working on my strength now, it will prepare my body for the next season. Just two days ago I picked up a basketball and began to work on my basketball game. I love the feel of the basketball in my hand after a few weeks where I don't pick one up. The leather smells good and it reminds me of my younger days that were spent on the local court working on my shooting touch. I will continue to work on my conditioning and my basketball skills as the season moves closer.

I know all of you are anxious to hear about the changes with the Houston Rockets. The NBA is an ever changing league and while it is sad to see fellow players and coaches leave, it is equally exciting to anticipate the new players and coaches that we have.

I loved playing for Jeff Van Gundy. I thought he was a very good coach and I learned a lot from his basketball philosophy. If I ever get into coaching one day, I will use many of his philosophies. I wish him the best and I know that he will do very well.

I am also excited to play for Rick Adelman. Coach Adelman is a proven NBA winner, his teams are always exciting and well coached. While the philosophies will be different next year, I hope the results of winning a lot of games stays the same!

I don't know who the Rockets will draft in the upcoming draft. There are many players that could help our team, but I am confident that our new General Manager Darryl Morey will pick the right players.

I am eagerly anticipating my China tour. I will be in China July 9-15. Please look at the PEAK website for more details of the trip. It is going to be a lot of fun and I hope to see many of my new fans and friends while I am there.
