　　Lee Kuan Yew, the statesman who transformed Singapore from a small port city into a wealthy global  hub, has died at the age of 91.
　　将新加坡从一个小港建设为富裕的国际枢纽的政治家李光耀先生去世，享年91岁。

　　The city-state's prime minister for 31 years, he was widely respected as the architect of Singapore's  prosperity.
　　李光耀曾担任新加坡总理长达31年，被人们称为新加坡繁荣的建筑师。

　　But he was criticised for his iron grip on power. Under him freedom of speech was tightly restricted and political opponents were targeted by the courts.
　　但他也因铁腕执政而遭受批评。在他的统治期间，**受到严格限制，他的政敌们也被法庭当作目标。

　　A state  funeralwill be held on 29 March, after a week of mourning.
　　李光耀的国葬将在为期一周的哀悼后，于3月29日举行。

　　In a televised address, his son Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong paid  tributeto him.
　　李光耀之子，新加坡总理李显龙发表电视讲话向他致敬。

　　"He fought for our independence, built a nation where there was none, and made us proud to be Singaporeans. We won't see another man like him."
　　“他致力于新加坡独立，从无到有建立起我们的国家，并让我们以自己是新加坡人而感到骄傲。我们再也不会遇见他这样的人。”

　　Mr Lee  oversawSingapore's independence from Britain and separation from Malaysia. His death was announced early on Monday. He had been in hospital for several weeks with pneumonia.
