China's rail operators said that starting from April 10, they will roll out more personalized services in eight high-speed trains to attract customers with offers such as deep discounts and ladies-only compartments.
"When female passengers are booking tickets on 12306.cn, they will be given priority in ticket allocation in the ladies-only compartments because the online system can automatically identify the gender from the ID card," said an employee working in the Shanghai Railway Bureau.
To become more competitive, high-speed rail operators are also offering seasonal discounts of up to 30 percent for passengers.
中国铁路部门表示，从4月10日起，8对高铁列车将提供更多个性化服务以吸引乘客，其中包括深度折扣以及女宾包房等服务。
一位在上海铁路局工作的员工说到，“女性乘客在12306官网购票时，系统会优先将票分配到女宾包房中，因为系统会通过用户的身份证号自动识别其性别。”
同时，为了更具有竞争力，高铁部门还向乘客提供高达30%的季节性折扣。
